Broadcasting judgments

On 21 October 2014 the Supreme Court Rules Committee approved an amendment to the Supreme Court Rules that will insert a new Part 13 into the Rules. The new Part will deal with applications to record and broadcast judgment remarks in the Supreme Court. The Courts Legislation Amendment (Broadcasting Judgments) Act 2014 makes amendments to the Supreme Court Act which provides that there will be a presumption in favour of allowing the broadcast of judgment remarks. That amendment will commence on Monday, 27 October 2014. These new rules will commence on the same day.
