Law & Justice Foundation of NSW - Research Alert

The Law & Justice Foundation of New South Wales has today released a research report titled Data Insights in Civil Justice: NSW Supreme Court. To access the Research Alert click here.

Key findings include:-

  • About one in five cases involved mortgagee repossessions, about one in six cases involved family provision claims and corporations list cases were the third most common
  • One-third of cases were e-filed but this varied dramatically by list – from 78.6% in the possession of land list to none in the proceeds of crime list
  • Half of first plaintiffs were individuals and half were organisations
  • Legal representatives were recorded for at least one plaintiff in 96% of cases, but for at least one defendant in only 57% of cases
