Uluru Statement from the Heart

Fri Nov 02 2018
Advocacy

In May 2017 a convention of First Nations People from across the continent gathered at Yulara NT and adopted the Uluru Statement from the Heart as an expression of their aspirations for a path travelled together with all Australians to a new future. That future is one in which a Voice to parliament is constitutionally enshrined and a Makarrata (or peace making) Commission is established to facilitate treaty making and truth telling. The Statement for the Heart was endorsed by the Referendum Council and has since been endorsed by NSW Bar Association, the Law Council of Australia and the Australian Bar Association.

Register now for a unique event and hear from Thomas Mayor (a custodian of the Statement) about his travels around Australia since the Uluru Convention with the Statement from the Heart.

  • When: Monday, 5 November 2018
  • Where: NSW Bar Common Room
  • Time: 5.00pm

Also hear from Tony McAvoy SC and Arthur Moses SC on the importance of the Statement and the role of the legal profession.
