Call for submissions on standard minimum non-parole periods

Attorney General Greg Smith SC has asked the Sentencing Council to review the standard minimum non-parole period (SNPP) offences contained in Part 4 Division 1A of the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act 1999 (NSW) and report to him by 20 December 2013. The council has released a consultation paper to seek the views of stakeholders. Although the deadline for submissions is 25 October 2013, the council is calling for urgent submissions on SNPPs for child sexual assault offences by 11 October 2013. Submissions can be emailed to: sentencingcouncil@agd.nsw.gov.au
