Commencement of the Criminal Case Conferencing Regulation

The Criminal Case Conferencing Trial Further Amendment (Extension) Regulation 2010 commenced today, 10 December 2010. The object of the Regulation is to extend the operation of the Criminal Case Conferencing trial until 1 July 2011. The trial operates under the _Criminal Case Conferencing Trial Act 2008 _and provides for compulsory pre-committal conferences and the codification of sentence discounts for guilty pleas in certain criminal matters conducted in Sydney. The NSW Government is still considering the future of the Criminal Case Conferencing scheme.
