Reminder: submissions on the draft Bail Bill 2010 are due next week

The New South Wales Government has released an exposure draft of the Bail Bill 2010. Attorney General Hatzistergos said the government would now seek the community’s feedback on the draft laws, along with 21 other recommendations outlined in a major review of the state’s bail system. Members have until the close of business on Wednesday, 27 October 2010 to make submissions. Supreme Court Judge Megan Latham will chair a roundtable of prosecutors, defence lawyers, police, victims’ representatives and other experts to advise whether further changes to the bail system are required.
