Peter Garling SC appointed to the New South Wales Supreme Court

Peter Garling SC has been appointed as a Supreme Court judge. In making his announcement, Attorney General John Hatzistergos cited highlights of Mr Garling's distinguished 32-year career.� Mr Garling has been involved in a number of significant court cases, royal commissions and public inquiries, including hearings into the Thredbo landslide, the Waterfall and Glenbrook rail accidents, the Sydney bushfires in 1996 and the collapse of HIH. In 2008, he led the special commission of inquiry into acute care services in the state’s public hospitals.
