NSW courts are keeping up with the workload

Thu Jan 31 2008

The New South Wales court system has been given a favourable report card by the Productivity Commission. The report on court administration is contained in Part C of the Productivity Commission's Review of Government Service Provision.

Attorney General Hatzistergos has welcomed the findings of the report. "NSW Local Courts, which handle more than 90 per cent of the state's court cases, have maintained the lowest criminal case backlog in Australia for five consecutive years", he said. "These results are due to the hard work of the court staff and the NSW Government's massive investment in the facilities theyuse"
