A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, in the tradition of King’s College Chapel at Cambridge University, will be held at St James’ Church, King Street, Sydney on Sunday, 18 December 2016, commencing at 7:30 pm.

The Guests of Honour will be His Excellency Sir Peter Cosgrove, AK, MC, Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove. The service will be led by the Rector of St James, The Reverend Andrew Sempell and music will be provided by the highly acclaimed Choir of St James’ under the direction of Warren Trevelyan-Jones.

The structure of the service was developed at Kings College in 1918, but is based on an earlier medieval Christmas celebration. Through the use of music, readings, movement and light the story of Christmas is retold.

This service provides an opportunity to welcome to St James’ our friends and neighbours in the City of Sydney and is designed to be a community celebration.
