Australian Law Reform Commission examination into Indigenous incarceration

The Commonwealth Attorney-General, Senator the Hon George Brandis QC, and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Senator the Hon Nigel Scullion, today announced that the Federal Government will ask the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) to examine the factors leading to the over representation of Indigenous Australians in our prison system. The announcement has been welcomed by the Australian Bar Association and the Law Council of Australia
