Most violent offenders are not recidivists

The New South Wales Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research has published the results of a longitudinal study of 26,472 violent offenders, which found that a majority desist after just one offence. The director of BOCSAR, Dr Don Weatherburn, said the research "highlighted the dangers associated with stereotyping all violent offenders as dangerous recidivists". Learn more here.
