Committee on the ICAC examines prosecutions

The New South Wales Parliament's Committee on the ICAC, chaired by Greg Smith SC MP, has released a discussion paper, Prosecutions Arising from Independent Commission Against Corruption Investigations. Among the discussion points, the committee asked if common law offences such as misconduct in a public office, bribery and conspiracy to defraud a public official should be abrogated and replaced by a criminal offence under the Crimes Act 1900. The committee also examines the effectiveness of relevant processes and procedures of the ICAC and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. View the discussion paper here.
