Vale: Bruce Wilkie Collins KC (1948–2026)
Bruce Collins KC passed away on 27 September 2026. Before coming to the Bar, he was an associate to the Hon Sir Garfield Barwick in 1973. He was called to the Bar in 1974, took silk in 1989 and achieved 50 years as a practising barrister in 2024. Formerly at 11 Wentworth Chambers and then State Chambers, he practised equity and commercial law, and was also admitted to the Bars of Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory, Fiji, England and Wales, and the Republic of Ireland.
From 1991 to 1993, he was appointed by the NSW government as Acting Commissioner Against Corruption and was a Member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport. In addition, he was an Australian Olympic appeals consultant in 2008, 2010 and 2011. In 2012, he was appointed by the NSW government to chair and conduct an inquiry into insolvency in the construction industry and to report to the Minister for Finance. From 2012–2018, he was a Member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris.
