Bench and Bar v Solicitors chess match

The 2009 Bench & Bar v Solicitors chess match for the Terrey Shaw Memorial Shield was a keenly-fought contest. The Bench & Bar won 9-5, but this result belies the close finish. The Solicitors were behind 7-5 going into the final two games, and could have forced a draw. The 2010 Bench & Bar team was Tim Reilly, Mark Robertson, John Purdy, Ken Pryde, Paul Glissan, Horst Bleicher, Michael Hall, Rob Colquhoun(c), Marcus Pessman, Gordon McGrath(vc), Andrew Bulley, Ventry Gray and Tamir Maltz. Justice Stephen Rares and Justice Peter Graham were interstate on appellate duties.
