Relocation of CARS Assessment Conferences- January to May 2017

Fri Dec 16 2016

The State Insurance Regulatory Authority has advised that Claims Assessment and Resolution Service (CARS) Assessment Conferences will not be held in the usual hearing rooms on Level 21, 1 Oxford St Darlinghurst between January and May 2017 due to renovations. Alternative hearing rooms will be made available for CARS assessment conferences over this period.

SIRA advises that every effort will be made to ensure that Assessment Conferences proceed at their scheduled times at new venues. However, if a scheduled time and date needs to be altered due to the availability of alternative rooms, parties will be contacted by claims assessment staff to reschedule the matter. SIRA advises that every effort will be made to minimise disruption and inconvenience to the parties and injured persons. See the information sheet from SIRA regarding the changes.

The Association has been making representations to SIRA to ensure that an adequate number of rooms are being made available. There are concerns that there may be delays in the listing of cases due to room availability issues. Any members who experience difficulties with the new arrangements and wish to bring them to the Association’s attention so that further representations can be made should contact Alastair McConnachie at amcconnachie@nswbar.asn.au
