Bar FC taking part in 8th Annual "State of Origin" Football Tournament

On 10 October 2015, the NSW Bar FC competes in the 8th Annual Suncorp Football "State of Origin" Tournament against the Victorian Bar and the Queensland Bar at Green Gully Reserve, St Albans, Victoria (the home of the Green Gully Soccer Club).

The touring squad is: Anais d’Arville; Richard Di Michiel; Simon Philips (Acting Manager); John Harris (Capt.); Geoff O’Shea; Scott Goodman; Graham Turnbull SC; Colin Magee; Michael Fordham SC; Sebastian Hartford Davis; Rohan de Meyrick; David (Patchildinho) Patch; Greg Watkins; Richard Sergi; Oshie Fagir; Adrian Canceri; and Angus Lang with Match Officials Graham Turnbull SC and Anthony Lo Surdo SC.

The action kicks off at 1.00pm with Vic v Qld, followed by NSW v Qld at 2.15pm and NSW v Vic at 3.30pm.

NSW will be keen to avenge its first ever series defeat in 2014 and bring home the silverware.

The tournament will be preceded by a Sports Law Conference to be held at the Neil McPhee Room (Level 1 Owen Dixon Chambers East, 205 William Street, Melbourne) from 8.30 am to 11.30 am. Speaking at the conference are:

  • Scott Munn, CEO Melbourne City & Chris Nikou, Partner K&L Gates, FFA Director, "The City Group and A-League Participation"
  • Anthony Nolan QC (Vic Bar), "Legal Issues associated with 'The Blackest Day in Australian Sport'"
  • Rodrigo Vargas, ex-Melbourne Victory & Socceroo and The Big Issue, "Dealing with my Big Issues!" (Grand Finals, Socceroo selection, Transition from A-League & work with young offenders in prison) Registration for 3 CPD points is a mere $80 with all proceeds being donated to The Big Issue.

A light lunch will be served at the conclusion of the conference.

All members of the NSW Bar and Judiciary are invited and encouraged to attend the Sports Law Conference and to support your FC in its quest for glory.
