Treatment of inmates serving life sentences

The Legislative Council Standing Committee on Law and Justice will conduct an inquiry into the security classification and custodial management of inmates sentenced to life imprisonment. The committee will investigate whether prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment should receive access to rehabilitative programs or be reclassified from maximum security to medium and minimum security facilities.

The closing date for submissions is Sunday, 25 October 2015. The committee intends to hold public hearings in November.
