Arbitration workshops

Tue Jul 28 2015

A series of three arbitration workshops are being held at the Bar Association during August. The workshops offer members with a minimum of 7 years’ experience as legal practitioners and a current practising certificate the opportunity to become Approved Arbitrators under the association’s BarADR scheme. Those members who are seeking approval will be required to attend all three seminars, write an arbitral award based on a scenario to be handed out at the final workshop and submit an application form. One of the three workshops may be viewed online.

Arbitrators who are already approved by the Bar Association are not required to seek re-approval but are welcome to attend these seminars, including to gain the 1 hour of arbitration training required every 2 years. Similarly, members who do not fulfil the requirement of 7 years practice or who do not wish to apply to be an approved arbitrator are invited to attend to increase their expertise in representing parties at arbitrations. The first of these workshops will be held on Wednesday, 5 August 2015, for more information please see here.
