Open Letter to the Attorney-General

The New South Wales Bar Association has joined with more than 60 organisations in calling for the government to put the safety of children and survivors of family violence first and abandon its flawed family court merger proposal.

The Bar Association has joined the Open Letter to the Commonwealth Attorney-General, alongside organisations including the Law Council of Australia, National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Legal Services, Women’s Legal Services Australia, Australian Women Against Violence Alliance and Community Legal Centres Australia. The Open Letter is available here.

The Bar Association detailed its concerns over the merger in a submission to the Senate Committee inquiring into the proposal last year. This submission is available here.
