Commonwealth sets hiring targets for women barristers

Attorney-General Christian Porter has moved to ensure women barristers get a fair slice of Commonwealth briefs by setting hiring targets for all government agencies.

Porter announced today changes to its legal services directions to require Commonwealth related entities "to make all reasonable endeavours to brief or select senior female barristers for at least 25 percent of all briefs and junior female barristers for at least 30 percent of all briefs".
