A public consultation on private international law

Wed Nov 21 2012

The Attorney-General’s Department is exploring ways in which the operation of Australia’s private international law rules might be improved. This project is conducted by the Private International Law Section of the department under the auspices of the Standing Council on Law and Justice (SCLJ).

Two discussion papers have now been released which address private international law issues, including issues relating to the choice of law in contracts. The discussion papers are available from the Department’s innovative Consultation Hub (the Hub).

Members are invited to participate in this public consultation, either by engaging with the Private International Law Section through the Hub or through a submission in response to the discussion papers. Submissions should be emailed to the department’s Private International Law Section pil@ag.gov.au with a deadline of Friday, 21 December 2012.

The review of private international law rules is also now on Twitter (@agd_pil), LinkedIn (AGD – Private International Law) and Facebook (Private International Law), so follow, join and like the review!
