Symposium on deaf jurors.

The Centre for Translation & Interpreting Research in the Department of Linguistics will host a symposium at Macquarie University on the subject of deaf jurors. It will take place on�Sunday, 14 October from 11am-1pm. The topic of the symposium will be 'Should deaf people be able serve as jurors in Australia?' and will feature presenters from the legal and sign language/deafness sector, and time for discussion.

The symposium is free, but places do need to be reserved. Auslan/English interpretation will be provided. Download a flyer for more information>

The organisers are keen to see a mixed audience of Auslan, interpreting and law students, Auslan interpreter practitioners, deaf people, legal professionals and academics; and anyone with a general interest in the topic from an equity point of view.
