Positions vacant: crown prosecutors

Crown prosecutor (Sydney, Sydney West and Wagga Wagga) - five positions with an eligibility list to be created -�$251,590 per annum plus conveyance allowance of $16,235 per annum. Director of Public Prosecutions Lloyd Babb SC is seeking expressions of interest from qualified persons for appointment as a crown prosecutor under the Crown Prosecutors Act 1986 for a fixed term that may be renewed.�Four positions will be based at Sydney or Sydney West and one position will be based at Wagga Wagga, with the successful applicant for that position being required to attend other regional courts as directed. An eligibility list will be created for future appointments.

Selection criteria: Interested persons must be Australian lawyers and must have experience as counsel in jury trials and/or appellate advocacy in criminal matters; extensive knowledge of NSW criminal laws, the rules of evidence and relevant Prosecution Guidelines and legal principles applicable to crown prosecutors and the relevant Rules of the NSW Bar Association.
