Law Council urges more jurisdictions to join the national legal profession

The Law Council of Australia has welcomed yesterday's announcement by the Attorney-General Robert McClelland about the new National Legal Services Board and national legal services commissioner, as well�as the host jurisdictions for the legislation. The LCA also expressed�hope that non-participating jurisdictions will see the�benefits of a national profession and join it.�

None were more delighted than NSW Attorney General Greg Smith SC, who said the decision to locate the headquarters for the new national regulator in Sydney was recognition of the wealth of experience which NSW has in regulating Australia's largest and most diverse legal sector.
