Bar Association gives evidence on motor accident insurer profits

The New South Wales Bar Association gave evidence this morning before the Legislative Council Standing Committee on Law and Justice Inquiry into the operations of the Motor Accident Council and Motor Accidents Authority. The Bar Association’s evidence said that the insurers will make in excess of $1.5 billion in super profits over a ten year span. President Bernard Coles QC�also called upon the NSW Government to hold a broad independent inquiry into the NSW system of tort law to examine options to ensure proper compensation for injured people in this state.
