Samuel Griffith Society Conference in Hobart (ADVERTISEMENT)

The Samuel Griffith Society Conference will take place in Hobart on 26-28 August at the Mercure Hobart, 156 Bathurst Street.�Guest speakers at this year's conference include, but are not limited to,�Hon Justice JD Heydon AC, the Hon Michael Field, former Labor premier of Tasmania and the Hon R J Ellicott QC.

The Samuel Griffith Society was established in 1992 by former High Court chief justice Sir Harry Gibbs to promote debate and understanding on issues of law and public policy in Australia. The Society meets in a different state each year. Attendees at the society's conference include working and retired parliamentarians, judges, lawyers, economists, public servants and students. Accommodation for delegates wishing to stay at the Mercure Hobart is at a special conference rate of $95 with the option of a discounted buffet breakfast rate. Reservations should be made directly with the Hotel on 03 6232 6243 or email reservations@mercurehobart.com.au and please quote the Samuel Griffith Society to obtain the special rate.

This year's Conference will commence a little earlier than normal with registration at 5.00pm on Friday, 26 August followed by a very special pre-dinner reception at Government House, hosted by His Excellency, the Governor Hon Peter Underwood. Please arrive at the hotel prior to 5.30pm if you would like to attend the pre-dinner reception. Transport to and from Government house will be provided. Dinner will begin at 7.30pm.
