New Version of Federal Court Practice Note IP 1

The Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia has issued a new version of Practice Note IP 1 - proceedings Under the Patents Act 1990 (Cth). Read the new version of the Practice Note.

The new Practice Note will commence on 1 July 2010. In the new version, paragraph 1.4 no longer provides that all new proceedings under the Patents Act will be listed before a nominated Patents List Judge for the first directions hearing. The change is intended to reflect new arrangements in the New South Wales registry. whereby new proceedings will now be listed before the Judge on the Patents Panel to whom the proceeding has been allocated.
