Results for 2010 Bar Library Academy Awards Competition

Tue Mar 09 2010

The winner of this year’s competition is Hal Altan, of Tenth Floor St James' Hall Chambers, with a total of 12 correct answers. Results ranged between three and 12. To be tactful, and to spare the executive director's feelings, only those who reached double figures have been named. A copy of the results and the entry forms are available in the Bar Library.

Those selecting Kathryn Bigelow for Best Director were mainly women! Go figure. The category with the most correct answers was Best Cinematography (Avatar). The Best Short Film (Live Action) had the most incorrect responses (Miracle Fish). Never allow patriotism to interfere in a competition. Selections for Best Foreign Film were - mostly - just plain wrong. More incredibly, a number of entries were incomplete.

Better luck next year! Here is the abridged list of results:

12 Hal Altan, Tenth Floor St James' Hall Chambers 11 Katie Hall, New South Wales Bar Association 11 Leonie Anderson, Bar Library 10 Gary Lowe, University Chambers 10 Anna Pengo, Frederick Jordan Chambers 10 Justin Hewitt, 8th Floor Selborne Chambers 10 Jenny Nott, Bar Library 10 Matthew Darke, Tenth Floor Selborne Wentworth Chambers 10 Ron Desiatnik, author, editor and potter
