Case management amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act

The New South Wales Government has introduced into the Legislative Assembly the Criminal Procedure Amendment (Case Management) Bill 2009. The object of this Bill, as provided by the explanatory note, is to amend the Criminal Procedure Act 1986 to make further provision in relation to the management of cases to reduce delays in proceedings on indictment, including provision in respect of pre-trial disclosure, pre-trial hearings and pre-trial conferences; and to extend section 130A of that Act to all proceedings on indictment and to orders whether or not they are pre-trial orders.
