Report on self insurance arrangements under Comcare

Mon Sep 28 2009

The minister for employment and workplace relations, Julia Gillard, yesterday announced changes to the Australian Government's Comcare scheme. After the 2007 federal election, the minister had imposed a moratorium on private sector companies seeking to join the Comcare scheme and announced a review to determine the scheme's suitability for self-insurers and their employees. The government has decided to maintain the moratorium until 2011, when uniform OHS laws are due to be implemented in all jurisdictions.
