Parliament debates federal civil justice reforms

The Australian Government introduced the Access to Justice (Civil Litigation Reforms) Amendment Bill 2009 in June. The objects of the bill, as provided by the explanatory memorandum are to amend the Federal Court of Australia Act 1976 to clarify the case management powers of the Federal Court and to bring about "a cultural change in the conduct of litigation". The bill is currently being debated in the House of Representatives.
