Sydney Law School invites eminent speakers to mark opening of new building
Tue Mar 31 2009As part of the opening celebrations for the new Sydney University Law School building, eminent law professionals and academics from around the world will present a programme of lectures, seminars and conferences on a range of special interest areas. First up will be Sir Kenneth Keith ONZ KBE QC on 'Judging in the International Court of Justice and Other National and International Courts and Tribunals', on Tuesday, 7 April from 6-8pm.
Judge Kenneth Keith has been a member of more than 10 national courts and international tribunals, including the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of New Zealand, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, appeal courts in the Pacific, and tribunals concerned with state responsibility, fisheries, and trade and investment. Since 2006 he has been one of the 15 judges of the International Court of Justice in The Hague. His presentation will discuss some of the similarities and differences between those bodies in terms of their composition, their procedures and the substance of their decision making.
Seminars will take place in the new Law School building, located on the Camperdown Campus of the University of Sydney (next to the Fisher library). Refreshments will be served from 5.30pm.
