The Australian Legal Convention, Intercontinental Hotel, Sydney, 23-25 March 2007

Sun Mar 04 2007

I invite all members of the Association to consider registering for the whole or part of the Australian Legal Convention which will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sydney commencing on Friday 23 March. One of the most important events in the legal calendar is the 'State of the Judicature' address by the chief justice of the High Court, the Hon A M Gleeson AC. This will take place at the convention at 9.45 am on Sunday 25 March 2007.

The convention program provides many presentations of interest to the Bar. Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty, NSW Supreme Court Chief Justice James Spigelman and Telstra's chief counsel, Will Irving, headline an impressive gathering of guest speakers.

It is not necessary to pay full convention registration to attend these. Members may wish to use the convention as an opportunity to meet their 2006 – 2007 CPD obligations which this year must be satisfied by 31 March 2007.
