Position vacant: Workers Compensation Commission

The Workers Compensation Commission is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment as a Deputy President. Term opportunity for a period up to seven (7) years; Sydney CBD based; Remuneration package at $308,440 per annum plus $16,990 conveyance allowance.

Deputy Presidents are responsible for the determination of appeals from decisions of Arbitrators in relation to disputes about workers’ compensation entitlements. This is a great opportunity for a senior legal practitioner to join the Commission and apply their knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience in the resolution of workers compensation disputes, including the determination of appeals.

High quality candidates will have superior knowledge and experience of NSW workers’ compensation law and demonstrated integrity and independence. They will have a strong ability to employ sound judgment and a structured approach to decision making, combined with high-level writing skills and comfort operating in an electronic environment. Their interpersonal and influencing skills will be well developed to enable effective interaction with parties, Commission members and staff.
