Appointment of executive director

Following an extensive executive search conducted by Korn Ferry in conjunction with the NSW Bar Association, Mr Gregory Tolhurst has been appointed to the role of Executive Director, NSW Bar Association. Mr Tolhurst will commence in the position from 24 October 2016.

Mr Tolhurst is at present a Professor of Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Sydney. He currently holds the role of Associate Dean, Indigenous, implementing the University’s Wingara Mura strategy at the Faculty, and has previously held the roles of Acting Dean, Pro-Dean, Associate Dean, Research and Chair of the Teaching and Curriculum Committee at the Faculty of Law.

Mr Tolhurst will succeed Philip Selth, OAM FAAL BA (Hons) LLB, who is retiring from the role after providing loyal and outstanding service to the NSW Bar Association in the role of Executive Director. Philip served 12 Presidents over a period of 19 years. The NSW Bar Association and Bar Council extend their sincerest gratitude to Philip for his dedication to the profession, and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.
