An evening with Dr Michael Kimmel

Members are invited to an evening with Dr Michael Kimmel – a gifted and world renowned speaker and writer on achieving gender equality. The event will take place on 24 May 2016 at 5.15pm in the Bar Association Common Room. Places are limited, so please RSVP to mblack@nswbar.asn.au by COB Monday, 16 May 2016.

Dr Kimmel is most famous for his TED talk in 2015 entitled ‘Why gender equality is good for everyone – men included’, which has been viewed more than 1 million times, and is available here.

Dr Michael Kimmel has had a prestigious and long standing career in the area of gender equality. He is the SUNY Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Stony Brook University in the United States of America.

Dr Kimmel regularly gives presentations all over the world to corporations, governments, universities and institutions. He has delivered the International Women’s Day annual lecture at the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of Europe, and has worked with the Ministers for Gender Equality of Norway, Denmark and Sweden in developing programs for boys and men. He also consults widely with corporations, NGOs and public sector organisations on gender equity issues and has written prolifically about them.
