Papers to note: political criticism and judicial independence

In February 2018, at UK think tank Policy Exchange, the Hon J D Heydon AC QC delivered a paper, "Does Political Criticism of Judges Damage Judicial Independence?" Heydon examines in detail the events surrounding contempt of court proceedings against three Commonwealth ministers and argues that the actions by the Victorian Court of Appeal might have engendered less respect judicial independence.
