Commercial Mediation - Practice, people and pitfalls- an insider’s discussion

Mediation is an integral part of the practice of Commercial Litigation. The Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the Law Society has put together a panel of senior and highly experienced practitioners to discuss in a very practical way tips for participants, pitfalls in and steps to achieve suitable outcomes from commercial mediation sessions. The session will take place on 28 March 2018 from 5.00pm to 7.30pm at The Law Society of New South Wales, 170 Phillip Street, Sydney. Learn more here.

Among the topics to be discussed during this interactive, facilitated discussion are: preparation for mediation sessions; avoiding disputes arising from the mediation process itself; recent case law dealing with what can go wrong with settlements reached in mediation; how to best use the mediator to achieve outcomes; and the role of principle and the emotional side of decision making in commercial disputes.
