The High Court Amendment (Appeals and Other Matters) Rules 2017 have been published on the Federal Register of Legislation. These rules amend the appellate procedures in the High Court Rules 2004, expanding the timeline for filing of material in advance of the hearing of appeals. They also change the sequence and form of some of the material filed by the parties in appeals. Learn more here. An explanatory statement is available here. The High Court has also published Practice Direction No.1 of 2017 - Joint Book of Authorities, which takes effect in relation to matters set down for hearing after 1 January 2018.
