ALRC review of the Family Law System

Commonwealth Attorney-General George Brandis yesterday announced that the Australian Law Reform Commission would undertake a comprehensive review of the family law system and that he had appointed Professor Helen Rhoades as full-time commissioner to lead the review. Further information, including the attorney-general's media release and the terms of reference, is available here. In response, the Law Council strongly welcomed the review but said that lasting reform will require significant court and legal assistance funding.
