Proposed Commercial Law Section of the New South Wales Bar

Mon Sep 25 2017

For many years, members of the NSW Bar have organised a series of occasional seminars, and lectures and an annual dinner under the banner of the Public Law Section of the Bar. In response both to the success of that Section and interest from members, it is proposed to establish a Commercial Law Section of the NSW Bar with a view to holding a quarterly seminar/lecture/discussion (which would also attract CPD points) and an annual dinner following a named lecture. It is proposed that the Commercial Law Section will also engage with solicitors and members of the judiciary who will be invited to events and round table discussions.

It is contemplated that the subject matter reach of the proposed section would extend to include corporations law, insolvency, transnational commercial litigation, commercial class actions and commercial arbitration (including international commercial arbitration). For planning purposes, expressions of interest are invited for both topics and speakers. Please communicate expressions of interest by email to Andrew Bell SC (asbell@elevenwentworth.com) and Michael Izzo (mizzo@elevenwentworth.com).
