Today saw Bar FC in its last outing in this year’s Domain Soccer Competition with a win required to avoid relegation from 3rd division. Well, when the going gets tough, Bar FC gets going!

Dominating the mid field in the first half, it was a shooting gallery for Bar FC, with a Morrison pass to D’Arville at the 7 minute mark, seeing D’Arville nail Bar FC’s 1st goal. That was shortly followed by Boyle having a close miss from our next goal attempt, then another near miss from D’Arville, a Hogan-Doran near miss and another near miss from a Hackett attempt. Hogan-Doran then took a penalty kick and Bar FC unlucky not to score again.

In the 2nd half, we did not have to wait long for our next goal, with D’Arville getting his second goal after five minutes, to nail the game for the Bar, at 2 to nil. Morris had a spectacular run down half the length of the field and was unlucky not to score. Our backline of Fredericks, Philips and Griscti was to formidable for Reserve Bank B. Harris saved the day by stopping a Reserve Bank kick that looked like being a certain goal.

Man of the match was unquestionably D’Arville. Strong in the midfield, inspiring the Team and scoring all our goals.

Today’s line up was as follows:

  • Ivan Griscti
  • Anais d'Arville
  • Glenn Fredericks
  • Timothy Boyle
  • Rico Jedrzejczyk
  • John Harris (GC)
  • Nicole Compton
  • Justin Hogan-Doran
  • Simon Philips
  • Tim Hackett
  • Hugh Morrison
  • Geoff O’Shea

A great way for Bar FC to end this season’s Domain Competition and places the Team well for the 10th anniversary Bar Football State of Origin series against the QLD Bar and Victorian Bar Teams in Sydney on 9 September 2017.
